Welcome

Welcome to Chiropractic.  You are about to embark on a journey towards optimum health as have millions of others around the globe.  Our team at The Chiropractic Centre Croydon, will hope to make your experience as fulfilling as possible by exceeding your expectations.
We endeavour to explain, and that you understand what is wrong, how we can help and to offer you the best possible chiropractic care.   Our aim is to support you by helping your body to function as it should, through the best possible chiropractic care.  We have a convenient location and times available, please phone for details.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT
First we need to find out more about your health concerns and needs by filling in forms about you, see ‘New Patient’ Form below.  Then you’ll meet the Doctor who will discuss your case history and give you an explanations and advice.  If we believe you’re a good candidate for chiropractic care and we think we can help you, we can then proceed to a Chiropractic Examination.
To enable the doctor to better understand your health concerns, you will be required to complete a ‘New Patient Form’ (see ‘Start as a New Patient’ below).  You will then meet the doctor who will discuss your case history.  If we believe you are a good candidate for chiropractic care and think we can help you, we will then proceed to a chiropractic examination.
The chiropractic exam may include relevant orthopaedic and neurological tests.  We will check your spine, and test the way you move.  Your posture will be checked, your bi-lateral weight distribution, your reflexes and muscle strength may  be tested. These tests are designed to pinpoint the source of areas that may be causing dysfunction to your health.
We may include taking X-rays that provide us with diagnostic imaging.

DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING
Based on your examination findings, X-ray or other types of diagnostic imaging may be necessary. These images can help reveal pathologies, document the history of your spinal health and guide your Chiropractor in creating a care programme based on your unique spinal condition.

REPORT OF FINDINGS
After your initial consultation and examination visit we’ll study and correlate the results of your case history and the examination/s findings and provide you with a report of our findings. We will show you what we have found and the conclusions we’ve reached. If we find that you’d benefit from chiropractic care we’ll recommend a course of care consisting of specific chiropractic adjustments together with a rehabilitation programme suited to your individual needs.

CAN CHIROPRACTIC HELP?
If areas of abnormal spinal function are identified, your Chiropractor will recommend a course of care appropriate to your particular spinal health problem. Your plan of care is based upon your age, condition, lifestyle and your unique spinal problem/s. In the event that we find your particular health problem is not amenable to Chiropractic care, we will refer you to the appropriate health care practitioner who can help you.

A TEAMWORK APPROACH
When you consult this office you are entering into a unique partnership. Your health today is the result of your habits, your thoughts, your actions and all the circumstances of your life. Your Chiropractic Doctor’s role is to help restore proper spinal and nerve function by providing appropriate treatment, together with relevant advice and recommendations to enable you to regain optimum health. Little can be done about the past, but we’re here to help with the future.

SPECIFIC ADJUSTMENTS
The primary course of care will be a gentle specific procedure called ‘SPINAL ADJUSTMENT’. This will help return individual spinal bones to their proper alignment and motion. There are hundreds of ways of using carefully directed and controlled pressure to restore better position and motion to ‘jammed’ or ‘fixated’ spinal joints. Sometimes only one area of the spine is adjusted and other times the entire spine will receive attention. Every Chiropractor has a preference based on training, clinical experience and the particular spinal problem of the patient. Sometimes when a spinal joint is ADJUSTED there is a ‘popping sound’ as the joint is gapped. The ‘popping sound’ is a process called ‘cavitation’, which occurs within the joint when gas and fluid in the joint shift. IT IS NOT the sound of bones rubbing together or cracking as many people think. Chiropractors in our clinics We utilise manual (by hand) adjusting, special drop table and instrument adjusting techniques.
(See Doctor’s Profile in ‘Meet the Team’ for more information on techniques used.)

EXERCISES REHABILITATION TRACTION
AND OTHER PROCEDURES
Your Chiropractic Doctor may also recommend additional procedures to help restore your spine and nervous system to optimum function. These may include ways to help reduce inflammation, exercises to restore muscle balance, traction for spinal curve correction and other structural and/or functional procedures together with nutritional or lifestyle advice. You can be sure your Chiropractic Doctor will utilise those techniques that have been proven safe and effective.
